Yannick Cheffre, fondatrice du laboratoire M.A.I., Miss Antilles International, en hommage à ses origines caribéennes, est née en Guadeloupe à la fin des années 30. Sa grand-mère, guérisseuse traditionnelle lui a transmis son amour de la nature ainsi que ses précieuses connaissances des plantes poque, frustrée par le manque de soins de qualité adaptés aux cheveux frisés, elle décide de créer de manière artisanale ses produits en enrichissant ses formules de mélanges d'huiles et de plantes. En associant pour la première fois Science et Nature, elle révolutionne la coiffure ethnique et donne naissance à son laboratoire. Les produits se sont adaptés au fur et à mesure de l'évolution des clientes, de leurs besoins ou de leurs envies. Les gammes aujourd'hui, s'élargissent avec des produits pour adultes ou enfants spécifiques aux cheveux frisés, bouclés, crépus
